Film, TV and radio

Variety (via the BBC) reports that a long-mooted third Ghostbusters movie seems likely, with Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky from the US version of The Office being brought in to work on the script, a move which is seen as meaning it is far more likely now the film will actually be made after years of rumours and its hoped the original cast will reform for it, although I seem to recall reading a few years back that Bill Murray wasn’t overly keen on the idea, but perhaps that’s changed. I never took to the second movie outing but the first film was highly enjoyable and it benefited from some very clever marketing to build anticipation – remember those mysterious posters all over the country with the road sign and the ghost but no explanation so everyone was intrigued? I’m not sure how I feel about a new movie after all these years – one part of me would like to see it while another, more cynical part thinks its maybe a marketing ploy to cash in on a bit of 80s nostalgia for those of a certain age. Oh well, it might be okay because as they say, “bustin’ makes me feel good”.

Well, they’ve already done ‘Ghostbusters on the skids’ with movie II so unless they can come up with an original storyline, it could just be the same gags with better sfx. Which would be a shame. Fingers crossed, though.
