Worst SF remakes

Film, TV and radio

IO9 has their pick of the top ten worst science fiction remake movies and there certainly are some serious clunkers on there (from the awful and pointless reworking of the Stepford Wives to a Turkish Star Wars rip-off to those who should know better – yes, Tim Burton, we’re looking at you and making chimp gestures). Now there’s a list that’s surely set to grow given Hollywood’s seemingly endless appetite for remaking previous films…

Curiously though (on a related subject) the remake of classic SF movie The Day the Earth Stood Still has apparently done rather well at the US box office, although I imagine the bulk of the cinema going audience are probably totally unaware of the original and it is just geeks like myself who are scandalised that they would remake it. Now do I give into a bit of curiousity and go and see the damned thing or ignore it…?
