Comics and cartoons, News

News via e-mail this morning from Andrew Luke of the death yesterday of British comic writer and journalist Adrian Kermode, at the far too young age of 45. Cause of death is unknown at this time.

Kermode was a frequent contributor to many British comic magazines including Borderline and Vicious. He was the co-creator of Petra Etcetera and Deadman & Hyde (both with Terry Wiley) and writer of Doctor Sorrow, drawn by Mike Juniper. He was also a contributing writer to Selina Lock’s The Girly Comic.

(Thanks to Andrew Luke and John Freeman for more information.)

Update: Matt Brooker has posted up a short but obviously heartfelt piece on his own blog about his friend (thanks to Matt B for the link)

Adrian worked for me for a couple of years in Newcastle. He was a talented bloke with a unique sense of humour and a great team player. It was a great shock to hear of his death. Sincere commiserations to his partner and family at a ver sad time.
