Amanda Palmer signing Forbidden Planet International Edinburgh

You might remember recently I mentioned that Amanda Palmer would be performing a gig in Edinburgh (in the HMV Picture House on Lothian Road, August 22nd) and is threatening all sorts of other sneaky performances during the annual madness of the Edinburgh Festival this month (will no-one think of the children???). I’m also delighted to announce that the corpse of the late Amanda Palmer will be joining us in our Edinburgh branch on Southbridge (a moment’s walk from the historic Royal Mile) to sign copies of her collaboration with Neil Gaiman, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, on Sunday August the 16th from 3 to 4pm (please note the time may be subject to change due to performance obligations, so check the site for any updates).

I am informed that Ms Palmer’s body is likely to be revived from its current post-mortem state in time for the signing and the gig, although if she should prove to still be in a post-homicide state we do plan to prop her up with a broomstick especially for the event. Do come down and join us. Meanwhile Amanda’s multiple murders don’t seem to be stopping her getting out and about; keep up with her via her site and her Twitter.

Just the book? Or will she sign the CD as well?

  2. Richard Says:

    Hi Bob,
From what I’ve heard Amanda’s a nice person and I’d imagine the odd cd would be fine. But always best with these things to check on the day as there might be specific rules in place regarding what is allowable for the signings – and those rules are usually imposed by the artist or their managers and the store doesn’t find out until the very last moment!

Whatever the specifics of the day please bear in mind that it’s only going to be an hour long signing and we imagine it’s going to be awfully busy! So as with all signings I always think it’s important to be nice and not take the artist for granted. So no turning up with armfuls of Amanda’s work expecting her to sign the lot!

Would it be possible for you to keep some copies of the book for those of us who aren’t going to be in Edinburgh on Sunday but will be coming next week?

  6. Joe Says:

Ben, checked with the Edinburgh staff, they can’t hold books, but the plan is to ask Amanda to sign a goodly bunch of them for stock as well as for the folks who can be there on the day, so there should be some available, check with the store when you are in town.

  7. Ben Says:

Hey – thanks. I wouldn’t necessarily have expected the staff to hold any for me (although I can promise I will buy if I can get one there) but if they could keep some in stock that would be amazing. Look forward to visiting the shop.

Will it be possible to purchase a copy (or two, for the boyfriend n.n) of the book while I’m there, Sunday?
