Animex animation festival kicks off in Middlesbrough

Today marks the start of the Animex Festival in Middlesbrough and also the tenth anniversary for the event, which was started when some animation students from the University of Teesside were entered into the British Animation Awards and which has since grown from a one day event to a much larger festival with guests from the international world of animated TV, cinema and video gaming, with a mix of events for the public and also professional panels and lectures for those working in animation, with topics going from examining how to create animal locomition for animators to a behind-the-scenes talks from ILM’s Tom Martinek about last summer’s Iron Man, to screenings of films and short works, the student animators awards and a conversation with Aardman Animations David Sproxton; Animex runs from today to the 6th of February and you can download a PDF brochure with all the events information from the official site.
