Paul Gravett reminds us that as part of the Brussels ‘09 celebration of comics (which Wim has been telling us about throughout the year) he will be curating the “In Search of the Atom Style” exhibition in one of the city’s landmark buildings, the Atomium. From the official description the exhibition: “will cast new light on an incredible line of comic strip draughtsmen from André Franquin to Yves Chaland, via Jijé, Tillieux, Will, Jidéhem, Joost Swarte, Ever Meulen, Serge Clerc or Daniel Torres. Through the generations, the style that emerged from the “Marcinelle School” has in fact been reinvested by artists keen on the multiple forms of design.” Paul also informs us that Blighty’s own Woodrow Phoenix and Rian Hughes will be flying the flag for British comics art at the exhibition, which opens on Thursday 4th of June and runs until the 20th of September; you can read more about it on the Atomium’s official site here.
