John ‘Captain Jack’ Barrowman has teamed up with his sister Carole to pen a story for an upcoming Torchwood magazine comic strip entitled Captain Jack and the Selkie (a Selkie, also sometimes spelled Silkie, is a common character in the folklore of the Scottish Highlands and Islands). From the publisher’s description: “the story sees Captain Jack facing a deadly threat on a remote Scottish island, where people are disappearing one by one… To his horror, Jack starts to suspect he may know who or perhaps more specifically what is responsible...” The artwork for the comic strip is courtesy of Tommy Lee Edwards and Trevor Goring; Torchwood Magazine #14 goes on sale on February 19th. No details are forthcoming as to whether Captain Jack will don a kilt during his Caledonian sojourn, but given John Barrowman’s propensity to get ‘Little John’ out at the drop of a hat I think we can take it as read that if he does don the kilt he will, in time honoured fashion, have nothing worn underneath it.
