This year’s annual Caption comics convention is happening this year on 15th-16th August in Oxford. Theme for this year: Away With The Fairies.
Caption is a small press con, and although I’ve never managed to get along to one, I hear it’s a very welcoming and friendly place, packed with folks with an absolute love of comics in every form. And there’s a bar. Of course. Maybe, if I’m really good, I’ll get to go this year?
Highlights of the convention this year include: Sarah McIntyre (Vern and Lettuce in the DFC) discusses Comics and Picture books: crossing the divide, Garen Ewing on Rainbow Orchid: from small press to Egmont, Asia Alfasi (a Libyan-born British manga artist with a 50-page story in The Mammoth Book of Manga and an upcoming project to be published by Bloomsbury) talks about her work in the field of manga. Jon Spira’s Scriptwriting Workshop and Jimi Gherkin’s Zine Workshop.
