Jon Haward is rather pleased to announce that Classical Comics graphic novel adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth picked up a gong at the Independent Publisher’s Book Awards, tying with Michael Pearl’s Good and Evil for the Bronze award in the Graphic Novel/Drawn Book – Drama/Documentary category. Frank Beddor and Liz Cavalier took the Silver for Hatter M, while the Gold spot went to The Red Star: Sword of Lies by Christian Gossett.

In the Graphic Novel/Drawn Book – Humor/Cartoon category the Gold went to The Spirit: A Pop Up Graphic Novel, by Will Eisner (Insight Editions), Bumbling Through Borneo, by Tom Schmidt (Kakibubu Media Limited) took Silver and Bronze was taken by Evan Brain’s Christmas List and Other Shenanigans: Boy Warrior Fights Evil, by Eve Becker-Doyle and Evan Brian Doyle (Becker Doyle and Associates Publishing). In Science Fiction and Fantasy the Gold was grabbed by The Broken Thread, by Linda Smith (Coteau Books), Silver went to Madman’s Dance, by Jana G. Oliver (Dragon Moon Press) and the Bronze was a tie, split between I, robot, by Howard Smith (Robot Binaries & Press) and Quondam, by Jayel Gibson (Synergy Books).

thanks for the mention it’s great getting an award from the u.s and good news for british publishing the ippy’s had four thousand books submited this year for their 65 categories, by the way if any regular fp blog readers enjoyed the book Macbeth the graphic novel nominations are still taking place on the eagle awards website http://eagleawards.co.uk/nomination.aspx ,i don’t think i’d win a Eagle but it would be nice to get on the nominated list
