Toxic presents Crazy Comics.jpg

With the closure of the DFC and the general economic gloom and empty pockets (unless you are a disgraced senior banker, of course) here’s some good news for a change. Luke Paton at Brit kid’s comic Toxic tells me they are flying the flag to show that there is still some vibrant life in the comics scene for British kids, with a free 16-page, full colour comic being attached free to the Toxic which goes on sale on April 1st. The idea is to introduce nine new strips from a variety of creators then get the kids to go online and vote for their favourite, which will help decide which one could become a regular Toxic strip. There are some great Brit comics names involved too, including some of our personal faves like Laura Howell, Shane Oakley, Lew Stringer and they’ve even taken on board that John Freeman (the doctors say writing comics is good therapy for Mr Freeman’s condition and it keeps him off the streets) who has a couple of strips in there. Luke himself has one in the free supplement (Zombie Nation, drawn by Laura Howell). Its nice to have a positive Brit comics story to start the week with, isn’t it?
