News of paper and magazine cutbacks and closures have, alas, been too common recently and I’m sad to hear that Dangerous Ink is now among the casualties. Tom, the Editor, is, he tells me, ‘gutted’, but unfortunately he felt there were simply too many pressures on the art, illustration and comics journal to maintain it as a viable entity. “Sadly with the closure of Borders in the UK, and the recession causing more stores and galleries to cut back on advertising (the main income for any mag), we’ve had to take the painful decision to stop publishing Dangerous Ink. It’s been one Hell of a ride, and we’ve been delighted to showcase new artists every issue, as well as show off some of the best UK cartoons to the wider world (which can still be found online through our ‘links’ section),” – Tom from his ‘farewell speech’ on the DI site.
It’s a shame to hear of another cool art/comics project coming to a premature end, especially as DI also promoted UK cartoonists. The current issue – the fourth – will therefore be the final print version for the forseeable future, although Tom tells me that for the time being at least the DI website will continue, with the back issues online as free digital versions (there are still a few hard copies left for ordering), so do pay a visit and have a browse.

What a great magazine and Tom was really cool to work with.
I’ll miss it.

Hi,
It really is a shame, mainly because there aren’t many magazines of its kind.
Only now I found out about it.
I was looking at an article that I wrote about it a while ago and verified that the website was different.
Maybe they’ll come up with a similar project, even if only online.
Best regards,
José
