To be fair, I wasn;t commenting on your earlier reviews, I was commenting on this one, and when you write things "great to see UNIT out in force" you are giving the show an easy ride. Having UNIT in the show may entertain the die hard Who fans, but it's hardly makes the show fun for the rest of us, as indeed do any of the other references. This show has a formula and rarely if ever deviates from it. And while reviewers mention this from time to time, they still give Who mostly excellent reviews because it's Who. No other show gets such positive treatment for the bloggersphere at large (FPI included)

Geoff, in what way is saying I enjoyed something giving it a 'free pass'? As someone who grew up with the original I am actually more likely to be wary of changes in the new version but I've found it excellent and obviously made by people who, like me, grew up with the show an respect the earlier version. And if you bothered to look you'd see that as well as a number of previous posts praising the revived version of Who I've also posted critical comments of some episodes over the last four years when I thought they let the audience down, which they have done with several eps which were poor or even some which I enjoyed while watching but afterwards when I had time to think (away from the frantic pace of the ep) I realised it had been a bit empty in places and disguised with a rushed pace so you couldn't think about it. But by and large far more good eps than bad, some great characters, some good dialogue and sometimes some seriously stand out episodes (Family of Blood or Blink spring to mind). I certainly haven't given the show a get out of jail free card simply because it bears the Who logo.

Yet again Doctor Who gets a free pass from the bloggers for just being Doctor Who. You do wonder if anyone would like this show if it wasn't called Who....
