Digital Comics – an optimist’s view……

Comics and cartoons

Lucy Kinsey, on this simple one page strip, presents a viewpoint all too rare in modern comics. It’s often the case that older lags in the game (and I have to include me in this) bemoan about comics as a digital medium rather than a printed one. So to see her enthuse about them like this is wonderfully refreshing.

This has been all over the net this week, but I got it from Wim.

Great little strip – and one opinion. I still don’t want to read either books or comics on some electronic screen – probably never will. The problem will be – and she hints at it here – when she mentions lower prices, that as the ‘work’ becomes more ephemeral – no solid copy to reflect ‘value’, prices for it will be driven down, and the same royalty model for books will be left in place – leaving no-one able to make a living. Another entertainment destroyed by the lack of ability to get people to pay for digital content.
