Doctor Who filming

Film, TV and radio

Celeb site Mr Paparazzi has a whole bunch of pictures from the filming of the new Doctor Who, with some pics of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan in front of a somewhat altered looking TARDIS, which looks, to me at least, more like the early 60s version of the famous police box. I wonder if that’s what some of the Twitterverse speculation about a ‘new’ TARDIS was about the other day.

RUINED!!!!! They ruined Doctor Who!! Who wears a bow-tie? And bring back the old TARDIS!! WE MISS DAVID TENNANT!!!! :’(

  2. Joe Says:

Hardly new, Rachel, Pat Troughton wore a bow tie as the second Doctor way back in the 1960s, while the new TARDIS exterior is also modelled more on the look from the very early days of the series

I agree, the bow-tie is hardly new – the entire point of Doctor Who is that he changes. There have been ten before him – you think they were going to make David Tennant play him for the entirety of the show? Boring! I loved David’s doctor, but give the new guy a chance!

I think the new doctor brings a new face-literally and theoretically-to the show. New encounters with old enemies bring a fresh but thouroughly bred-in look to the new season. I favor David Tennant, but Matt Smith and the new companion are a wonderful, clashing match, and I still enjoy watching just as much as I used to.
