The sixth Comica Festival, curated by Paul Gravett, takes place in London this November. Comica is a festival of many disparate events on comics and the artform, but always manages to get some particularly good guests and some very special events. For example……
From Paul Gravett’s Comica site:
“Eddie Campbell is the first confirmed international guest for the Comica Festival ‘09. Over from Australia, Eddie will be in conversation with a special guest on Saturday November 7th, 7pm to 9pm in the Nash Room at the ICA, and then signing books afterwards, in particular his new 640-page compilation Alec: The Years Have Pants , collecting the whole saga, including the early episodes first serialised in Escape Magazine and three Escape graphic novels. Earlier that Saturday between 2pm and 4pm he’ll also be signing at the London comic shop Gosh!.”
And Bryan Talbot, whose new graphic novel Grandville is out in October will also be at Comica 2009 Festival. Again, from Comica 2009 site:
“Bryan Talbot has just confirmed his appearance at Comica ‘09, where he will give his only London presentation of his illuminating illustrated lecture ‘Grandville & The Anthropomorphic Tradition’, tying in to Grandville (Dark Horse / Jonathan Cape), his dazzling new steampunk thriller starring hard-boiled badger detective Inspector Le Brock. Bryan’s talk will be on Saturday November 7th at the ICA from 4.30pm to 6pm in the Nash Room followed by a book-signing.”
