Maria Smedstad’s Em strip will be appearing in The Sun newspaper starting tomorrow (Tuesday 22nd) which is good news for fans who had been following it in The London Paper (now gone); you can check out some of Maria’s work (several years of Em strips by the looks of it) via her website here. (thanks to David Baillie for the heads-up)

The only rather limited joy to be gained from “Em” in its London Paper incarnation was the schadenfreude one felt wondering at the creator’s lack of ability in coming up with (or perhaps conveying) new jokes.
Whatever mild humour might be gained from baby envy and falling asleep drunk was certainly covered by the first week of its run there. See also every single episode that followed for the subsequent three years.

Hi DelloVelo,
I can’t make any sense of this part of your comment: “‘doing’ hermione harry potter from behind a good one about Spaced”??? (Does anyone else understand this sentence? Please help)
The linked episode you’ve presented seems to be essentially about going to sleep while tipsy which you’ll find was joke #2 in my list of the two jokes in Em, so I don’t appear to have underestimated it based on this example. Even Edgar Wright can only muster that it’s “sweet”, not actually funny.
