The Beeb reports that the famous Angels Costumiers are putting up a selection of their costumes for auction at Bonhams in London today, to clear some more space in their busy warehouse. “The downside to creating costumes that become so famous and strongly associated with particular characters, actors or films is that they can never be used again in future, nor can they be hired out at our fancy dress shop. So now seemed to be the right time to offer fans and collectors the opportunity to take home a piece of film or television history from the Angels archive,” chairman Tim Angel.

Among the famous costumes from film and television is a cape worn by Sir Christopher Lee for his Hammer Dracula outings, which is expected to fetch up to £30, 000. Other items coming up in the auction include costumes from Doctor Who, the TV versions of the Narnia Chronicles, some Bond movies, The Prestige and the Harry Potter productions (including, I notice browsing Bonhams’ site, one of the late Jon Pertwee’s trademark velvet jackets and one of Nicola Bryant’s Peri tops).Anyone fancy sprucing up their wardrobe collection?
