Father’s Day Trouble Bruin’

A little late for this perhaps, but well worth a mention. It’s Father’s Day on Sunday and perhaps, instead of socks, barbeque forks or something boring for the car, how about some comics goodness for Dad? Maybe American Elf with it’s tales of James Kolchalka and his son? Or Andi Watson’s wonderful Little Star? Or maybe a copy of Matthew Craig’s Trouble Bruin that I reviewed a while back right here?

“Take Trouble Bruin; his biographical tale of another Birmingham superhero and his son across the years, using the superpowers sparingly to illustrate what makes this particular family slightly different. And when he needs to, Matthew turns the tale from straight retelling of a life into a heartfelt and touching recounting of a hero’s death and all the emotional fall-out that comes along.”

According to Matthew: “The book wasn’t intended to be particularly seasonal, but the story lends itself to the celebration, I think – while not everyone is lucky enough to be Brummagem, many are lucky enough to grow up with the greatest Dad in the world.”

Trouble Bruin costs £2.50 in the UK, including p&p and either a Trouble Bruin Father’s Day card (as seen above) or a Trouble Bruin bear logo card (see Baby Ted’s shirt). There’s a chance to read the strip before you buy right here on Matthew’s website.
And Happy Father’s Day for Sunday for you all.

Last year I went for the simple option of one of the George Low edited giant Commando Books collections for Father’s Day, went down very well!
