From Our Continental Correspondent – Tintin wanna cookie !

As we are gearing up for the Tintin Festival in Namur (May 8th to the 10th) and the subsequent grand opening of the Tintin Museum in Louvain-La-Neuve (on June 2nd), Belgian cookie bakery par excellence Delacre will be presenting a new, special edition box with a selection of its sweet wares.  The box will feature eight portraits of characters from Hergé’s books, including Tintin himself, Captain Haddock, the Thompson twins, La Castafiore, Tchang, Abdallah and Rastapopoulos.

Cookie tins have become a collector’s item these past few years, and it’s not the first time that Delacre presents a Tintin-themed box.  For example, previously a beautifully embossed tin featuring the moon rocket caused a rush to the supermarkets, and before that, a series of tins with seasonal Tintin scenes was also a great succes.  This time, however, Delacre went for something special, and produced a luxury box in heavy cardboard, with a linen lining.

The box will contain 380 grammes of niceties (as if anybody’s interested in that !) and will be for sale in all Belgian shops from April, 15th onwards (8,49 Euros. (via Tintin France)

I’ve got a Tintin biscuit tin (none of your trans-Atlantic ‘cookie’ nonsense for me!) which we bought in Paris two years back. If we see another one this year, we’ll send it over to you…

Thanks, but I think I have a better chance of getting one if I go to the Delhaize supermarket around the corner, here in the old country ;-)
