Saint Patrick’s Day greetings to you courtesy of the always charming and pious Father Jack, depicted here in religious rapture by Declan Shalvey on the new Eclectic Micks Irish comics artists collective. Ladies and gentlemen, as I pour a pint of Guinness over my cornflakes I invite you all to indulge in making your own national stereotypes a little bit Irish to mark the day. I, for example, am deep frying my haggis in green lard today, my English colleagues are boiling their roast beef in Caffrey’s and our crew in Wales are putting a leek with a small umbrella on top into their pints of the Black Stuff to make Irish-Welsh stout cocktails (and it helps towards their five a day too). I invite you all to take your preferred national stereotype and give it a Saint Pat’s twist.
(for those outside Ireland and the UK who might not be familiar with it, Father Jack was the incredibly grizzled, booze soddled priest from Arthur Mathews and Graham Linehan‘s absolutely brilliant comedy Father Ted, one of the best sitcoms in years)

Fantastic!
(Or, as we say over here in the old country, Go h-anna mhaith ar fad!)
