The BBC reports that preparatory sketches by the artist Cliff Wright for the cover of the Harry Potter novels will be up for sale at the Glasgow Art Fair later on this week. One pencil and pen sketch is for the cover of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, depicting Harry and Hermione on a Hippogriff; it’s expected to go for around £13, 000.

The image is one of a series of 10 which were sent to the publisher Bloomsbury as rough ideas for character development and composition… The designs were also passed on to JK Rowling for her approval and any comments passed back to me. Thus, for example, the Hippogriff was based on a design that was sent through to me from Jo,” Cliff Wright explains the origins of the Potter sketches. The Glasgow Art Fair runs from April 23rd to the 26th.
