Books, Conventions and events

The Comics Research and Such blog has details of a one day conference to be hosted by the University of Bedfordshire on the 16th of June on the history of books for children and young adults and are calling for papers – discussion on the subjects of “children’s book illustration, including work on picture books, comics and graphic novels” will be included. Again refreshing to see the comics medium being taken seriously and I can’t help but note that while academia, the arts and mainstream media are increasingly taking the medium seriously in the Anglophone world its often been book folks involved with Yound Adult and younger readers titles who seem most open to embracing the possibilities the medium offers.
