Comics and cartoons

More good news in publishing; the wonderful Howard Cruse brings news of his latest publishing endeavour. It’s a small collection of his decidedly adult strips – 24 of them from hither and yon, drawn between 1976 and 2008.

From Headrack To Claude is self-published by Cruse through Lulu.com. If Cruse made the decision himself to self-publish more power to him. But if, as I suspect, no publisher was forthcoming, then shame on them. Cruse is a comics pioneer whom I first discovered, much to my delight, with his marvellous tale of sexual discovery amidst the civil rights movement; Stuck Rubber Baby. A beautiful, important and emotive book (I cried. A lot) that will be reissued at last by DC/Vertigo in 2010.
