We’ve all heard how the ongoing financial collapse has hammered the car industry – sales are way down and the large, expensive end of the market has been hit even harder. This collapse in consumer confidence has now extended to Gotham City – even the Batmobile failed to sell (presumably many are put off by the huge V8, 7.5 litre engine and would prefer something more economical and nippier round town). Infinite Credit Crisis hasn’t actually forced Bruce Wayne to put up the Batmobile for sale, however, it is a replica of the 60s TV Batmobile created by Mark Perkins of Berkshire, which was up for sale at a show at the National Exhibition Centre, but the bidding failed to reach the reserve price tag of £40, 000 (despite being road legal and boasting rear view TV screens), so Mr Perkins took the car home and intends to continue donating it to exhibitions in the meantime. He has a collection of other TV and movie related vehicles, including one of the Reliant Robin vans used by Trotter’s Independent Traders in Only Fools and Horses and an Aston Martin DB5 used in publicity calls for the Bond movie Goldfinger.
