Press TV reports that Toonpool, a German online comics community, has arranged to display a caricature by the Iranian artist Javad Alizadeh on some 4, 000 monitors throughout the Berlin subway network. Alizadeh’s image, La Strada (below), is a caricature of the female lead from the Fellini film La Strada. What a nice way to brighten up your daily commute, it would certainly make me a little more cheery in the morning trip to work if there was some nice cartoon work to be enjoyed on public transport.

And since I mentioned the Toonpool community (which may be organised in Germany but appears to be very international in outlook, have a look at it) I should point you in the direction of a couple of short interviews (in English) that they have recently posted up with two young Chinese artists, Queenio and Yu Liang.
(An lovely example of Queenio’s artwork, borrowed from her site)
