Over on his blog, Jim Medway posts up some pictures from one of his latest projects at a local Manchester school. In addition to being a very talented comics artist Jim does an awful lot of really interesting work in schools – maybe at one near you?
This latest project was a huge mural at St Matthews Moston spanning a large corridoor above the dining hall that traced the history of the school and the area and all done with Jim’s usual cat figures. Words don’t do the scale and the quality of the work justice, so here’s a couple of images. Head here to Jim’s blog to get more.

In other related news; Matt Badham has posted a long interview over at his blog with two of Manchester’s finest; Jim Medway and Adam Caldwell. Most enjoyable reading about the craft and art. And importantly it had the following bit of information about a big favourite here – Crab Lane Crew:
JM: It’s fifty-fifty ownership between me and Random House. I’ve not actually received the letter from them yet that tells me what their plans are. I think that everyone is receiving a letter round about now actually, because they’ve got to weigh up everyone’s strips individually …… To consider if they can see potential in collecting your strip or what exactly to do with it. I’ve no idea what they’re going to do, really.
I’ve long said that I’d love to be able to present Molly with a lovely hardback album of Jim’s Crab Lane Crew (and Sarah McIntyre’s Vern & Lettuce and Simone Lia’s Sausage & Carrots) so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Jim and the rest have some good news from Random House soon. Of course, this isn’t to say that anyone reading this can’t email Random House (childrenseditorial@randomhouse.co.uk) with a list of those DFC strips you’d like to see as collections. Get to it folks!

Thanks for your support! No CLC news yet, though you (and Molly) will be the first to know. Glad you like the mural too – lots of fun working on that scale.
