Spanish artist Jose Casanovas passed away earlier this month, reports Steve Holland on Bear Alley. Casanovas worked on a number of European titles but English language readers will know him principally for his UK work for 2000 AD and Starlord. I won’t even attempt to sum up Jose’s career as Steve, in his usual knowledgeable fashion, has already done so far better than I can. By coincidence I was flicking through a stash of old Judge Dredd annuals I found at the parental home recently and among them were some highly enjoyable Max Normal strips (the ‘Pinstripe Freak’, Dredd’s top snitch) with lovely, sharp art by Jose Casanovas… (thanks to Links Droid Badham for pointing it out)
