One of Australia’s top female science fiction writers, Marianne de Pierres, will be hosting one of the UK’s top female SF scribes, Justina Robson, on her Parrish’s Patch board over the 29th, 30th and 31st of May. Marianne, meanwhile, is hard at work on Transformation Space, the fourth volume of her current Sentients of Orion series, which began with Dark Space and then the recent Chaos Space, both of which I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed (part three, Mirror Space, is due from the good folks at Orbit in November, Transformation in 2010) and which, like Marianne’s Parrish Plessis novels (which first switched me on to her writing) are notable not only for some bloody good story telling and action but some well rounded female lead characters and some emotional depth, all of which is very welcome in the genre.
