The BBC has confirmed that actress Lindsay Duncan will guest-star as “the Doctor’s cleverest and most strong-minded companion yet” in the second (and as yet un-named) of this year’s special episodes. According to the official Who site this episode is written by Russell T Davies and Phil Ford and will go into production this spring, when Duncan (about to be seen in the imminent BBC dramatisation of Margaret Thatcher’s period of power – hmm, is that drama or horror genre?) will play the character Adelaide. The first special, Planet of the Dead (is it set on a world of corporate bankers?), is due for transmission in the UK at Easter; the beeb has some pictures up of David Tennant and Michelle Ryan from Planet of the Dead on the Newsround site.
