Marmaduke to get big screen treatment

Fox is developing Brad Anderson’s long-running newspaper comic strip Marmaduke for the cinema; precious few details at the moment, not even a confirmation on whether it will be live action, animated or a combination of live and CGI characters. Marmaduke, a Great Dane (the dog variety, not an important Scandinavian person) was created by Anderson in 1954, although undoubtbly popular in the US I’m not sure it was seen as much in the UK. I cam’t help but wonder if the studio’s desire to make a movie version has anything to do with the current spate of comedy dog related movies that seem to be coming out – we all know how Hollywood loves a trend to jump on.
