Richard at Midnight Fiction tells me that he is again offering up a free comics calendar which can be downloaded as a PDF from the Midnight Fiction site and printed off (free) for readers to enjoy; I had the 2008 Midnight Fiction calendar on my desk through last year (you might recall I couldn’t resist sharing the occassional monthly illustration on here). 2008′s was a collaborative effort, this year all the months are by Richard with the illustrations on a theme of mythological creatures and is suitable for printing out in colour or black and white. Some of the artwork has a lovely woodcut style which reminds me of the fantastical creatures which used to decorate the unknown regions on old maps.

And while you are visiting the small-press friendly MF site check out their new interview Anthony Davies has with Denver indy cartoonist Noah Von Sciver, creator of Blammo, the latest issue of which was co-launched alongside John Porcellino with his latest King-Cat issue at Kilgore’s in Denver.
