Oh yes, on the Multiverse forum, Michael Moorcock reports the following:

Looks like it’s official. I’ll be doing a new Dr Who novel (not a tie-in) for appearance, I understand, by next Christmas. Still have to have talks etc. with producers and publishers but we should be signing shortly. Should be fun.

I don’t know about you but the very first thing I thought was …… crossover potential:

    I’ll be disappointed in not one member of the extended Cornelius clan makes an appearance.

    But good to see the BBC go after Proper Writers for their WHO novels, too.

    And why not, after all Dark Horse has grabbed some excellent fantasy scribes for their Aliens and Predator novels such as Jeff VanderMeer. Look forward to this one (hint to BBC Books, we’d love to see an ARC when its available!)
