A flashmob of some 200-odd plasticine Morph-like figures were arrayed in London just outside Tate Modern as a tribute to the late artist Tony Hart, whose charming kid’s art show the wee plasticine animated chap first appeared on. “My father would particularly love this because everybody is doing exactly what he always wanted them to do which was make something, just give it a go, make a model or draw a picture. He would be absolutely thrilled. He would have thought: ‘You’re all completely mad’ but he would have been very touched,” Carolyn Williams, Tony’s daughter. What a lovely, lovely idea; the Beeb has a video report here.

I saw this on the news the other night and thought it was brilliant. Tony Heart was a legend and inspired millions of people to try their hand at art. Let’s not also forget he bought us Morph and i couldn’t think of a better way to remember him than this :o)
