Leonard Nimoy gave Star Trek fans in Austin, Texas a real surprise – they had come along for a classic movie screening of Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khhhhaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnn! Instead the incredibly lucky audience were treated to the venerable actor, beloved for his portrayal of the half-human, half Vulcan science officer Spock, introducing the first public screening of JJ Abrams’ upcoming new Star Trek movie. The audience gave it a roaring thumbs up and a six minute standing ovation – and these are hardcore Trek fans, so that bodes well for the rest of us old fans who have had some worries about the film.
