As regular readers will know I was lucky enough to be at the sold-out event with Neil Gaiman and Ian Rankin discussing writing comics and prose, chaired by Denise Mina, herself no stranger to writing for both prose and graphical fiction, at the Edinburgh International Book Festival this summer, which was a terrific gig (see here for the report). With the permission of the participants and the generosity of our chums at the world’s biggest literary festival we’ve been allowed to share the recording of the event so the many who couldn’t be there can enjoy it too. I should add that there are a couple of points where you can hear laughter with no obvious joke; this is when Ian and Neil were delighting in using certain terms (like ‘balls to the wall’) to see how the nice lady translating into British Sign Language for the hearing impaired would sign that (she was a very good sport and got a cheer for her efforts at dealing with our writer’s schoolboy humour at the end). I hope you enjoy it as much as I did:
