The next man to take over the lead in Doctor Who, Matt Smith, is currently enjoying the glamour of one of cinema’s most prestigious annual events, the Cannes Film Festival, with a short movie, Together; the BBC has a video report with Matt and an article here.
Together opened the Critic’s Week at Cannes and although only 14 minutes long Smith said that he took the role because he wanted to see how a short film could come together and be made on a shoestring budget, especially as he harbours desires to also work behind the lens eventually: “In the future, at some point, I would like to get behind the camera – I’m keen to be as collaborative as possible, although, of course, my main passion remains as an actor.”
