I think we need to be looking for a fresh perspective on the future, rather than endlessly defibrilating yesterday’s tomorrow.

That said, I am going to be THE HELL at the front of that queue when this bad boy comes out. Double standards, Cap’n: ye cannae change the laws’o Physics!

I’m not a big Trek fan by any means- this one looks like fun though.

We were in the cinema a while ago, and the previous trailer came on. My 7 year old son leaned over to me and said, ‘Now that’s a Star Trek movie that actually looks GOOD!’

I was quite disappointed by Cloverfield – looked forward to it very much and found it really irritated the hell out of me when I saw it. I’d love to get batteries like they had in their camera though, mine never last that many hours in continual use :-)

Re refreshing the franchise for Trek, you’re not wrong there, it became awfully stale. Enterprise did step up a notch and become much more interesting but sadly only in final season and a half by which time it was not getting renewed. I’m not entirely convinced by what I’ve read Abrams saying about though (especially as he contradicted himself a while back) but I’ll give it a go. My friend’s wee boys are all excited though, so maybe its just the thing for a new, younger audience.

I have to say i thik the new film will be great. I’m not going into it to compare it to the older Movie titles in the franchise, if i did that then i wouldn’t enjoy it as you just can’t compare the the original. Can;t wait to see it personaly i think the trailers look great.

I think it looks fun myself. A youthful Kirk – that’s cool – fighting, womanising but ultimately there to save the day – that’s bang on. An update is what the series needed after the pretty poor Voyager and the last film. And Harold too – wonder if the updating will include a nice “juicy one” in the rec room. May not have to see it after the trailer of course. I saw Cloverfield at the weekend – and whilst it is gossamer thin I found myself enjoying it quite a bit. Abrams knows how to push the right buttons most of the time.
