Comics and cartoons, Interviews

Science Fiction, comics and screen writer and all-round good egg Paul Cornell talks briefly to top UK SF mag SFX about the upcoming Black Widow: Deadly Origin mini-series from Marvel (issue #1 is due next week), which to me looks like one of the more interesting takes on Nat since Marvel let Paul’s fellow Brit SF scribe Richard Morgan have a crack on a mini-series:

SFX: What appealed to you about the Black Widow?

Paul: I like her longevity (she was born in the 1920s!) and how she’s always been seen as thoroughly capable, right back to her first appearances. She’s kind of this icon of glam confidence and ability. And I think such a long lifespan has given her this pitch black cynical sense of humour. She talks a bit like Daniel Craig in my version. And thumps like him in fights in aircraft cockpits too.
