Terry Pratchett – or I should say Sir Terry Pratchett these days – will be on BBC 2 on Wednesday evening at 9pm where he will be discussing coping with the awful affliction he’s been dealt in the programme “Terry Pratchett – Living with Alzheimer’s“. From the official description: “In the first of a two-part series, Terry confronts living with his uncertain future and facing a world ultimately without words. Following Terry’s progress through his first year with Alzheimer’s, this programme explores some cutting-edge science and weird treatments to reveal what it is like to be diagnosed with this terrifying illness.” There’s more and a clip on the BBC site’s Headroom page (a sub-site dedicated to mental well-being).

On a lighter note (and showing that Terry’s sense of humour hasn’t deserted him in these trying times) he muses on his recent knighthood and whether he is fulfilling his expected new duties: “Dear Diary,Damsels undistressed — nil / Dragons slain — nil / Windmills tilted — nil / All in all, not a good knights work .”(the latter quote via Dave Langford’s indispensable Ansible digest)
