Film, TV and radio

First pics have appeared of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark in the forthcoming Iron Man 2, due May 2010. Downey Jr is looking more and more like Tony Stark isn’t he? And can anyone tell me what the bizarre shin, thigh and forearm bracelets are?

Some of the armour is CGI’d-on in post-production, for certain scenes. (I think; this was certainly the case in Iron Man)

Either that, or it’s a rehearsal thing, and he’s put the rest of the suit aside.

Either THAT, or he’s going for the whole ’90′s garter-wearing superhero look (Cable, Superboy, et al.).

Those biceps look like Iron Man’s faceplate. Distracting.

I’m guessing the arm and leg bands are motion-capture markers so that animated CGI armor can be comped in later.

Those “bracelets” are used as reference points for the special effects guys so they can digitally render the rest of the suit later. :)

Its likely the ‘shot’ for the movie Iron Man 2 only requires torso and arms of the suit.

Its not a real, functioning ‘Iron Man’ suit or anything. That’s what they call ‘movie magic’

The funky braclets are for motion tracking to help when they subsequently apply effects :-)

They are CGI markers so that they can CGI the rest in later
