I’m delighted to hear that former 2000 AD artist Ron Smith has been found unanimously not guilty of the nasty allegations concerning a then-teenage girl back in the 1980s. Michael Molcher announces the news on his LiveJournal after checking with Guildford Crown Court; I also see that on the previous post covering the (typically lurid, unbalanced and un-researched piece of ‘journalism’) article in the Sun about the case earlier this week that Ron’s daughter has left a comment today also telling us that her father has been completely cleared. Its an awful thing to be accused of and I do hope Ron and his family can move on from what must have been a dreadfully stressful time. (thanks to PJ Holden for the link)

What we need now are a whole load of Ron Smith blog entries across the internet, just talking about his art, not mentioning the case at all, to put some positive vibes out there for him. These things stick.

Fantastic news. Juries usually consider the ‘evidence’ in such serious cases very carefully, so the fact that Ron has been found not guilty on all counts means that it must have been less than convincing. The man has been found not guilty, so let that be an end to the matter.
