Several guests from the world of science fiction and fantasy and comics feature on the Tubridy Show on Irish radio’s RTE1 discussing conventions and the sort of peoples who go to them, among them our own regular contributor and refined gentleman of letters Pádraig Ó Méalóid, who puts up a sterling defence against the (sadly widely held) stereotypes such as is it for anti-social loners (how can it be anti social if you want to organise and attend a convention with hundreds or even thousands of others? Duhhhh), but there’s also talk about trends in science fiction and comics (including discussing hip music celebs who like to drop in and pic up books from Sub City Comics in Dublin). Pádraig and the rest can be hear from around the 17 minutes onwards part; it will surprise no-one that Pádraig gets in an Alan Moore reference within a couple of minutes.
