Solar activity reduced – recession blamed

Tue, Apr 21, 2009

General

Scientists have revealed that solar activity is at its lowest for almost a century; the sun normally goes through periods of increased and decreased activity (such as solar flares and sun spots) over a fairly regular cycle, but this reduction in activity is thought to be far more unusual. Astronomers have blamed the reduction of output from the sun on the recession, while economists claimed it was evidence that the global financial meltdown had now spread to other bodies in the solar system. Neither the sun or its spokesplanet Mercury could be contacted for comment.
