The Solipsistic Pop anthology launches during this year’s Comica at the ICA in London on November 8th. We’ve mentioned this cracking-sounding collection a number of times on here as Tom Humberstone has been adding preview pages to the SP site – with it featuring some brilliant talent from the vibrant British small press comics scene (including a number of creators we’ve reviewed here) such as Philip Spence, Daniel Locke, Matthew Sheret, Howard Hardiman and more I think its going to be a great showcase both for the UK independent scene and Brit comics talent in general and I’m pleased to see Comica giving them such a high profile for its launch. As Tom put it “The book has been created with the intention of providing a support structure and outlet for inventive, original comic artists in a unique and beautifully designed printed product – a British Raw, Mome, Kramers Ergot, or McSweeneys… It has also been established as a way of finding comics a broader audience and to promote the medium as a viable artform.” From what I’ve seen so far I think its a terrific effort; if you’re in town please do lend them some support for the launch. You can check out some of the collection here on the SP site.
