Tom Humberstone (author of How To Date A Girl In Ten Days)sends us word on a new anthology series he’s putting together called Solipsistic Pop:
Solipsistic Pop is a biannual anthology designed to spotlight the best in alternative Comic art from the UK. It features diverse, beautiful, twisted and peculiar Comics that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. Comic artists old and new are encouraged to contribute. Solipsistic Pop intends to provide a support structure and outlet for UK alternative Comics. Each book of Solipsistic Pop will be a boutique, tactile product. An interactive, unique artefact designed to suit the content of each edition with an extremely limited printrun.
Book one arrives November 2009, and the website gives us a flavour of what to expect from an impressive contributor list and a manifesto post entiled “Declaration Of The New Vague“. It’s definitely been written to act as both a call to arms, an inflammatory first impression and, one suspects, with a view to deliberately wind a few people up.
It’s certainly interesting enough to make me want to see what they’ve got, plus there are several on the contributor list whose work I enjoy, so I’ll be looking forward to this one with interest.

I like their attitude. Hope they do well – fill that gap created by the absence in the current UK comics scene of anything like the old FAST FICTION/ESCAPE Magazine axis.
