The latest edition of music mag Q has an interview with U2’s The Edge, where he discusses his and Bono’s work on the Spider-Man musical for Tony award-winning director Julie Taymor: “We love to delve into other people’s creative worlds and figure out how it all happens. We’ve written a lot of the songs at this point. It’s in a pretty good state, and I hope it’ll open this year. We’re not sure where in the world, but most likely it will be in New York.” Of course it isn’t the first time U2 have been involved musically with the world of comics characters, having previously written a song for Batman Forever (I’m not convinced that is really a recommendation, however). Comics and now a musical, whatever next, a Spider-Man film??? Oh, hold on…Well, obviously I shouldn’t say anything until I hear it, but I’ll go out on a limb here and say how can it possibly top the one and only god-like Ramones performing the Spider-Man theme?
