You might remember last week when we had the competition with our friends at the Glasgow Science Centre to win tickets to their IMAX screenings of the new Star Trek I also mentioned that they had a special Trek themed quiz night coming up later this month:
“Glasgow Science Centre is searching for Scotland’s top Trekkie Team. We are hosting a Star Trek Quiz night on Saturday 23rd of May at 7pm where teams will battle it out to win the “Top Trekkie Award” as well as some great prizes. Teams are 5 aside and the cost of entry is £20 per person and includes a screening of Star Trek: An IMAX Experience. A cash bar and snacks will also be available on the night. Quiz tickets can be booked from Friday 8th May via 0871 540 1000. Please note that tickets need to be booked by Tuesday 19th”
My colleague based at FPI’s Glasgow store, Kevin O’Donnell, tells me that the Science Centre folks are offering another prize: the first five people to email Kevin – kevinod@forbidden-planet.co.uk – can get the chance to get their team in free of charge (saving twenty quid), so Trek fans, if you fancy your chances at showing off your knowledge, get emailing (make the subject line ‘Star Trek Quiz’). And while we’re on the subject, what did everyone think of the new Trek? And how was it in IMAX? I only saw the ordinary version at the weekend but I really enjoyed it – its very odd for those of us who grew up with those shows to see other actors in those iconic roles, but it was well handled and had a nice pace to it; I’d certainly be happy to see more with this cast, expand and deepen it a bit more.
