SF Signal notes that the excellent SF podcast the Starship Sofa is rapidly approaching its one hundredth episode (which should air on September 16th). I had no idea the guys had racked up quite so many shows, that’s a damned impressive run and if you haven’t tuned into them before its a good excuse to start. As part of their centenary episode celebrations Tony and the crew are also releasing an anthology of short work, StarShipSofa Stories Volume 1, which will be available as a print-on-demand and downloadable PDF; I should point out for those who haven’t tuned in before that the guys don’t just discuss science fiction and comics in their various forms, they’ve also been very good at giving a home to some excellent short science fiction tales, which personally I’ve enjoyed a lot. The anthology includes tales by Gord Sellar (whose work in the excellent Interzone and Black Static has really impressed me), Spider Robinson, Ken MacLeod, Alastair Reynolds, Joe R Lansdale and the mighty Michael Moorcock, which gives you an idea of the quality on offer. Its believed editor Tony has stayed young despite his 100th anniversary through a mixture of regenerations, a moisturising regime and a secret formula thought to include monkey sweat glands and vampire bat blood mixed with vodka.
