Wired has an advance look at the upcoming new Terminator movie Salvation, with some inside information from director McG (who rather candidly – and to his credit – comments that no-one was looking for the “asshole who did Charlies Angels” to make a new Terminator film) and some pictures and concept art, including hardware, the T-800 (Arnie’s model in the original movie, but here still an early development model – a development tested on humans), non-CGI tricks to create the desolate, post Judgement Day world (physically abusing the film stock to get the correct look rather than simply digitally processing it) and how Batman star Christian Bale was talked into taking the role of the mature John Connor facing the final battle against the machines only if the story and characters were more important than an overload of special effects. And it certainly makes me a bit more optimistic about this new move in the Terminator franchise – go and check it out.
