The BBC reports that beloved fantasy scribe Terry Pratchett has been to the Palace to be knighted by the Queen. Sir Terry Pratchett – got a good ring to it, doesn’t it? It isn’t often we see authors from the world of SF&F being knighted (Sir Arthur C Clarke is the last I recall offhand), a fact Terry has already commented on himself after he was named in the New Year Honours List, so it makes it especially nice. Terry’s also quipped that since being named a Knight of the Realm he hasn’t fought any dragons or rescued any damsels, so he is a bit worried about not carrying out his chivalric, knightly duties. I think anyone who saw the often hard to watch two-part programme on the BBC where he talked openly about his medical condition would say that Sir Terry has indeed been facing up to a dragon…

And wouldn’t it be wonderful if it was a dragon he managed to slay. Yeah, that programme was a choker.
